IPO sudden change

I've noticed lately that certain IPO's ($40 and up) will have very nice openings then at some point there is a sudden turn around. In a matter of minutes I've seen the shorts go from a measely 300,000 to over 2 million shares (and climbing). What is going on here? Am I just naive about how things work here?

That would be price manipulation. HSX has measures in place to spot it, and severely punishes anyone caught doing it. {nm} Dave3626 May 06, 10:40

Not really manipulation. People made some cash on the IPO and sell, others see it going down and sell as well, -more- arf May 06, 13:22

We are ALL in on it. Admit it, when you see a stock jumping, you get in, same for one falling, you also flip if the stock flips, it's HSX. {nm} arf May 06, 20:02

Yeah, that'd work, but you'd need a dozen people, and if the same 10 or so are found to "start" the moves, it's over. Finding them is -more arf May 06, 20:08
