Not really manipulation. People made some cash on the IPO and sell, others see it going down and sell as well, -more-
The IPO crashes. a week or two later, there's usually a forum post or some news story that mentions it, and people look at that stock to find it dirt cheap, and buy, it then shows up on the "Now Trading" as a big mover, and more people buy.
Market manipulation is tagging posts that have no news about a stock, or telling a group of people to all buy at reset and sell off at 2:30am or whenever they make $20, or something like that.

Once people recognized it as a "pattern", it kinda became a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts- the IPO bounce. May 06, 09:10
