My advice is to not think long term just yet (or anytime soon). Focus on secure short term gains.
You're totally right, at this point you don't have enough money to invest long term, or even middle term. Focusing on openers is a good start, you could also take a look at short term starbonds, but mostly my advice is to play the news on cheap stocks, they will give you good fast returns (and then you sell, move on to the next). Of course for that you need to invest quite some time online, and I don't know if you can do that.
You should not be getting into securities that you're not comfortable with. For example I stood away from big IPOs when I had a small port, simply because they are not predictable. It's a good idea to keep an eye on them to try to learn how they behave thought.
