One thing that is a good judge of the success of a movie is the theater counts. Larger counts, wider release so larger gross. So far I've only seen the dividing line of 650 as whether it's wide or limited.
I've seen a movie showing Moderate wide release I believe. I coun't find or figure out what that range would be in the glossary.
So deciding whether to buy, short, put or call for the movie that data would help.
Also, when a theater has a movie initially are they locked into a contract for how long they have to show it initially. Like they have to show it atleast 14 days or such? Looks like there is little change in theater count for first 2 weeks. Is that an industry standard? For me knowing the theater count for the 3rd week would be helpful in pegging the value better. Seems like that data isn't as forthcoming from sites like Mojo, and it's be really useful.
Thanks.
