Eliminating the weekend adjusts makes me worried about the future of HSX

On its face, the weekend adjust may be kind of irrelevant, and in general the majority of HSX players seem to know the game well enough to ride the opening adjust, sell or short the stock afterward, then reverse position after a week or two and make a second profit on the back end.  Perhaps this multiple profit potential is seen as too chaotic by the HSX staff, and kind of extraneous.  Perhaps this is seen as an effort to clean house and simplify.

But there are two factors that worry me.  The first is simply that the game will be less fun.  We're losing a whole aspect of the game, the side that's centered around opening weekends, and every weekened with new films releasing, it keeps things fresh and gives us something new to focus on.  Simply dealing with a 4-week wide release window or a 12-week limited release window feels comparatively drab to me.

The second worrying factor is the question of why now.  I think we're all aware that HSX is operating on a skeleton staff these days, with Antibody doing the lion's share, if not all, of the work.  So what would make HSX want to change the game now, at this point in time?  I'm not aware of anyone who feels like the opening week adjusts are a negative or who wants that element of the game removed.  But it's entirely possible I missed such discussions.  I don't see it as broken, so I fall back on the old adage of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."  So why are we "fixing" it now?

The only thing I can come up with is that it will eliminate work.  Moving forward, there will less weekly work required if no one needs to deal with creating and offering the weekly derivatives, or making the adjustments on Sundays and Mondays.

And that worries me.  If this is a desperate attempt by the HSX staff to cut workload down even further because its functionality is so tenuous, I wonder about the future of the site.

So what does everyone else think?  Is HSX reaching its twilight years with an imminent shuttering lying in the not-so-distant future, or is there a good reason for the change and is my worry simply knee-jerk reactionism?
