I'm guessing one of the reasons...
may be that there are now so many Billionaires (myself included) that have piles of cash laying around with nothing to do with it. Also.. we had been after HSX for a long time to increase the number of shares allowed...perhaps even up to 100K, but they had resisted due to their concern about manipulation of prices.
It may be now that there are enough ports and players that increasing the amount of shares would not be a concern... that's just my own guess.
I know in the past they had been hesitant for fear that those with loads of cash could cause prices to inflate without reason.
Remember that HSX sells this 'data' they collect from players to studios, etc., and it may be that now there are sufficient players to keep prices where it's a true reflection of what players feel a movie may earn... but again, this is just my own thoughts.
Perhaps HSX will give us a reason for the change at some point...
