CANNES: Standing Ovation For Mel Gibson And 'The Beaver'

A reversal of fortune might be in the works for the US Marketing of this film!  - We'll see.... it aint over yet!

The Cannes Film Festival premiere of the Jodie Foster-directed The Beaver just ended, and I'm told that there was a 10-minute standing ovation for the film and its star, Mel Gibson. Gibson missed the press conference earlier today but flew in just in time to support Foster and the film at the premiere. At that press conference, Foster said she made the film with a European sensibility and expected the crowd to be receptive. The film hasn't performed well in the U.S.
