weak points such as: a lot of improbable events in a less credible succession.
- Though it was a Bond film anniversary (this year we celebrate 50 years since the first movie with the 007 MI-6 agent), I thought it was not a movie in the spirit and tradition that have grown over time.. . very true it's the fact that we have some references, not subtle about old movies.
- Some characters should have much more time on the silver screen, to be highlighted better in certain moments, especially when they leave the stage...
+ Song theme of talented Adele fits perfectly into the first credits;
+ The director seemed very good, would be a pity for Sam Mendes to not direct the next Bond, the beginning was sensational - I understand now why it took three months to shoot those10 minutes of the first credits;
+ The beginning was in the tradition of earlier Bond movies, with thrilling chases and a twist at the end of the chase, unexpected to some; I don't remember seeing a motorcycle Bond, so for me that was a plus ...;
+ Locations and special effects were amazing;
+ Main actors are perfect: Judi Dench, Ralph Fiennes, even Ben Whishaw and Albert Finney;
+ Javier Bardem was an interesting villain, even if he's not used to its true value;
+ What about Bond, James Bond? What else I could add? I remember when fans ridiculed Daniel Craig when he was chosen by producers to interpret the famous 007 agent; they called him "James Blonde" and they wanted to boycott the premiere of Casino Royale. Daniel Craig went perfectly in character and even brought some improvements.
Skyfall is a new breath, a change of generations, seems like a reboot for Bond. The new actors in the skin of old characters are very good and I can't wait for the next Bond!
I understand why many will consider/ rate it like a very good movie, but personally I don't think it's a masterpiece. It's clearly better than Quantum of Solace. Compared to Casino Royale, Skyfall has a minus in emotion department (Eva Green & Daniel Craig were a very good pair) and pluses for technical department (special effects, director, no need of shaky-cam, editing, etc).
7.3-7.4/10 is a correct grade for a popcorn movie suitable for a winter weekend.
I would have given 7.5/10 if it was amazing? 93% RT seems very high.
But I recommend it to all Bond fans, and to those who want a good action movie.
