This was done with the following Xmas-themed movies that opened in early November:
The Santa Clause 2 - Nov 1st '02, opened $29m, did $139m total
Elf - Nov 7th '03, opened $31m, over $173m total
Polar Express - Nov 10th '04,opened $23m, over $160m total
The Santa Clause 3 - Nov 3rd '06, opened $19m, $84m total
Even Fred Claus which was considered a bomb opened with $18m and still did a total of $72m (opened Nov 9th '07)
They are hoping the Xmas theme keeps ppl coming to see it through the holidays. Carol may have a good drop next weekend but I think with the 3D & Imax prices and the Xmas theme it'll still play well through the holidays.
I firmly believe that had CAROL opened on the day before Thanksgiving it would have been HUGE. Nov 08, 08:09
