and only time will tell, but I can't help but feel this wont do an 'Elf' or a 'Polar Express' and wont have the same degree of legs throughout the coming months....
Those films were never guaranteed to open with big numbers (e.g. nothing in Will Ferrels catalogue by that point suggested a 30m+ opening 180m gross), or they were unknown entities with a curiosity factor (Polar Express) which had a novelty value....Carol does not offer new technology, the story has been done to death, and it is an averagely reviewed film that could only open to 31m even with a star name and studio attached and a large marketing budget...I just don't see these being the ingredients to show legs in the face of the looming competition of 2012, Twilight, Thanksgiving releases...
Like I said, time will tell but at this point I'd be willing to 'Cantor' it that it wont do much more than 110m.
