BOM has a series of tables showing second weekend increases (i.e. smallest drops) for films opening with more than 600 screens.

"Shrek," whose second weekend was Memorial Day weekend, had the 172nd best hold (according to this table) for films opening in more than 600 screens.  I'm assuming ININC will be eligible to "join" this table this coming weekend, since it is in 717 screens.  "The Blair Witch Project" and "Paranormal Activity," I would argue, were both examples of a rebooted steep platform release strategy under the guise of new technology, and "A Fish Called Wanda" a relic of the older platform strategy.  I don't feel these four movies form a group.

Old news. If you read the entire article, it indicates that this was from when Scorcese was doing rounds for Hugo a few years ago. {nm} Paul2k Sep 09, 18:11

Paul2k, here is the link to an update of our conversation on ININC in this IM. Hoping you find the response adequate. eallensbp Sep 09, 20:50

Thanks for articulating your thoughts and analysis. Unfortunately, I'm not convinced by your arguments. Probably because I have my head up Paul2k Sep 09, 22:06

Hey Paul, what a well thought out response. Yes, you read my response wrong if you detected condescension or defensive posturing. More . . . eallensbp Sep 09, 22:56

Pantelion is a division of Lionsgate {nm} Moviesnob Sep 09, 23:12

Good point second gary, but I got confused when you said Shrek was at #172. Granted, I clicked on Super Saturated and saw Shrek at #11. eallensbp Sep 10, 07:20

You're right, Snob. I don't know this for a fact, but Pantelion is to Lionsgate what Codeblack is to same company, I believe. {nm} eallensbp Sep 10, 07:03

Examples of movies that had second (or later) weekends greater than than the 1st (or previous) from last year include: {nm} Paul2k Sep 10, 08:30

Here's some data to bolster the fact that ININC isn't your typical platform success. Just pulling a few titles from this year Paul2k Sep 10, 12:13

Thanks Paul2k. That's what I was trying to establish, and of those examples you outlined ININC will outgross all of them this week. Crazy! {nm} eallensbp Sep 10, 22:55
