Good point second gary, but I got confused when you said Shrek was at #172. Granted, I clicked on Super Saturated and saw Shrek at #11.

Posted by: eallensbp on Sep 10, 07:20 in response to second gary's post BOM has a series of tables showing second weekend...

I used those four random movies as examples of films that had a 2nd weekend increase REGARDLESS of release pattern or strategy or, in fact, anything having to do with the details of the film's distribution even as I acknowledge that distribution strategy does of course affect a film's box office from one weekend to the next. Even considering that for ININC, a 2nd weekend where the film still has a first weekend worthy, HEALTHY per screen average of $10,000+ AND it's not some mass-marketed tentpole, it's remarkable. If we see even further expansion for ININC I really don't see how this film can't get to $40M by week 4 (and to confirm, no, I did not arrive at that number through any in-depth research, of the kind that I do for films prior to OW, but merely some simple math similar to what lobogotti would do--only I did it with pen and paper :)! Ā ).

Old news. If you read the entire article, it indicates that this was from when Scorcese was doing rounds for Hugo a few years ago. {nm} Paul2k Sep 09, 18:11

Paul2k, here is the link to an update of our conversation on ININC in this IM. Hoping you find the response adequate. eallensbp Sep 09, 20:50

Thanks for articulating your thoughts and analysis. Unfortunately, I'm not convinced by your arguments. Probably because I have my head up Paul2k Sep 09, 22:06

Hey Paul, what a well thought out response. Yes, you read my response wrong if you detected condescension or defensive posturing. More . . . eallensbp Sep 09, 22:56

BOM has a series of tables showing second weekend increases (i.e. smallest drops) for films opening with more than 600 screens. second gary Sep 10, 04:12

You're right, Snob. I don't know this for a fact, but Pantelion is to Lionsgate what Codeblack is to same company, I believe. {nm} eallensbp Sep 10, 07:03

Examples of movies that had second (or later) weekends greater than than the 1st (or previous) from last year include: {nm} Paul2k Sep 10, 08:30

Here's some data to bolster the fact that ININC isn't your typical platform success. Just pulling a few titles from this year Paul2k Sep 10, 12:13

Thanks Paul2k. That's what I was trying to establish, and of those examples you outlined ININC will outgross all of them this week. Crazy! {nm} eallensbp Sep 10, 22:55
