Depends on a lot of factors, including timing of when they would release a sequel....the LOTR films are probably the closest comparison..
Presuming it would stick to December 2012 or 2013 unless THE HOBBIT films wind up opening then. There's not a tremendous amount of room for 3 day expansion in December so it would probably go to a 5 day.
AVATAR of course was actually suppposed to have opened Memorial Day Weekend of this year (NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM II opened instead) if they moved it to then, they would have a shot a truly ginormous opening weekend but the availability of IMAX and DIGITAL 3D screens would likely not be as wide open.
