Top OW Show Count (excluding previews)

IM3 - 163,400
DH2 - 143,400
TDKR - 139,500
BD2 - 136,900

CF - 135,400

TA - 134,400

Top OW Screen Count

IM3 - 13,200
TDKR - 11,800
TA - 11,800
DH2 - 11,100
AWE - 10,800

CF- 10,700

Top Show:Theater Ratio (>100,000 shows, excluding previews)

IM3 - 38.4
BD2 - 33.6
DH2 - 32.8
THG - 32.5

CF - 32.4

Shrek 3 - 32.1

Runtimes for TFA and IM3 are similar.

38.4 ratio on 3900 theaters would be ~150,000 shows for the weekend (minus previews).  Let's say an even 40, so 156,000.  25-30K (probably a record number) more from previews would put it at 180-185K shows.

Say the actual theater count goes up to 4000, and the ratio's even higher, like 42.5.  We'd be sitting at 170K shows before even counting previews.  200K can happen.

BO: STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS will open in an estimated 3,900 domestic theaters Antibody Dec 10, 11:17

Lol. Twihards > Fanboys islander Dec 10, 11:48

seems low, would need to avg $50k per screen to get to $195M {nm} lapuckfan Dec 10, 11:54

that's theaters, not total screens {nm} slipping jimmy Dec 10, 11:59

^this {nm} RamsFan2004 Dec 10, 12:01

It's the same thing when calculating the PTA/PSA. $195M/39000 = $50,000 average. {nm} Antibody Dec 10, 12:05

$195M/3900 {nm} Antibody Dec 10, 12:06

Plus some are running round the clock. {nm} hyperzeitgeist Dec 10, 12:06

Most people only need to see it once, whether it's Fri 3am or Sun 6pm. {nm} Antibody Dec 10, 12:23

Who really goes to a 4AM show? {nm} skunkrunner Dec 10, 13:35

Show up at 4am and ask. People do lots of things for reasons personal to them {nm} BSmurf Dec 10, 15:40

Avengers avg $47,698; JW $48,855; TDK $36,283; TDKR $36,532 {nm} Antibody Dec 10, 12:10

If my memory success someone said back when ultron opened that the reason it had fewer theaters than the first avengers MattW Dec 10, 11:57

*serves not success {nm} MattW Dec 10, 11:59

In this case though is not about exclusivity, but the restrictions to run on the biggest theater(s) for a month. {nm} Antibody Dec 10, 12:16

I meant screen(s) within a theater {nm} Antibody Dec 10, 12:16

I've read 4400+ so that figure is a tad low. {nm} Baron_Darcon Dec 10, 13:06

3900 came from Disney. Anything you read before was someone's guess. {nm} Antibody Dec 10, 13:14

250 fewer screens than JURA4, AVNG2 & HGAM4?? I'm sorry but thats just not possible. {nm} skunkrunner Dec 10, 12:23

*waves hand* "These are not the movie screens you are looking for." {nm} DTravel Dec 10, 12:37

Many Drive-ins and seasonal theaters are not open in winter {nm} islander Dec 10, 12:56

If that # is accurate then that tells me... skunkrunner Dec 10, 13:08

Disney's plan all along has been holiday legs. The stipulated that STAR7 has to stay on the biggest screen(s) for 4 or more weeks. {nm} Antibody Dec 10, 13:13

So with 3900 theaters how many screens might that be? Still selling like wildfire and selling out lots of theaters already. With that Baron_Darcon Dec 10, 14:05
