Even with that, it wouldn't drop 29%. Holdovers (which normally 40 to 50% on Sunday) will drop less.

Here's the Sunday drops for the prequels:

Phantom Menace about 10%

Attack of the Clones 22%

Revenge of the Sith 16%

Ā

Keep in mind, those three also opened offically opened on Wednesday or Thursday (which means Tuesday and Wednesday midnights). That means their Sunday drops would be higher than a similar film opening on Friday.

Awesome, but still Disney going with the conservative number. Think much like Jurassic World it will have great Sunday and be around $245m {nm} nilephelan Dec 20, 08:21

238M means about 24 million tickets. The other 320 million Americans and Canadians couldn't be bothered? islander Dec 20, 09:19

I am .0029% of the people you are referring to. IMO, the theatres were going to be too crazy on OW so I am delaying to week 3. {nm} Rocket123 aka PVL Admin Dec 20, 09:26

Given the record OW and the record PTA for a wide release, I'm not sure what there is to be disappointed about. RogerMore Dec 20, 11:55
