Look at the history of Super Bowl weekends. Typically you get a chick flick and some schlocky horror or other teeny flick. Last year, they
broke the trend with Taken, a flick that had been out on the internet/foreign markets for what a year? Taken did great on Fri and Sat. Predictably died alot on Sunday. The other two held better on Sunday as Super Bowl counterprogramming. For whatever reason, Taken struck a nerve. Will Paris (from the same director) do the same thing? Taken was more focused plot wise in the previews. The trailer was great! You saw what it was easily...one middle aged former James Bond kicking **** to get his daughter back. Paris is a little more diffused in plot...lotta explosions and guns going off...but for what? Guys get it I think...it is action for action's sake...have they now been trained to go to the movies on Friday and Saturday before the big game? I dunno...tracking says it won't be as big as Taken. I kinda agree. If it opens to 24m like Taken did...I will be pretty surprised.
