normally I agree with BOG, this time I think he's dead wrong. In my college classes a majority of the conversations I overhear between girls
...are about Dear John and how they're reading (or have read) the book and all the other romance books they want to read this semester and in the summer and blah blah blah. The last time I heard girls talk so much about a movie it was that New Moon flick (you may have heard of it).
So...maybe I'm way off here, but I've maxed out both my cantorexchange and hsx...I'm going long bigtime here. My guess? No less than 22 Million, perhaps as high as 28Mill. The theater count is a little low, and there's the When In Rome competition, but...well, interest and advertising are what count on this one and both have been excellent. We know that females can--by themselves--make a movie a blockbuster like no other (case in point: New Moon), I think we'll see the same thing occur here. Unexpectedly big opening, followed by minimal drops over the coming weeks.
