Just back from BvS .... random train of conscious thoughts (spoilers!!!!)

Posted by: JustaGuy on Mar 24, 18:32

Felt disjointed up until the final faceoff... you could feel that the script wasn't fleshed out fully when filming began...The story felt like "we need to get these two together to fight....let's just get there"

Ben Affleck, I take it back, you're Batman...you're Frank Miller's Batman... you've been out there for 20 years fighting and you just don't give a ...anymore...

Wonder Woman, yes, felt like "hmmmm, how do we work her into the story??" but when she's in the fight, she's good...you can't take your eyes off of her...in a good way

Superman...Does Henry Cavill even care anymore?  Stare, Grimace, Look around...even when people died in the same room with you, NO EMOTION?! REALLY?

And why oh why is it so hard to get Lex Luthor right?!??!  Eisenberg really brings things down a notch...

.....Why did we need Doomsday, again, exactly?  Oh right, the script was a mess, so you get two different endings in one movie.

This really didn't pump me up for the JL movie....I'm much more excited to see the BatFleck or WW movies...lessening excitement to see Cyborg, Flash, and Aquaman movies (in that order) based on the tease in the film

Overall this movie will likely have the same legs as MoS.....

Thanks for this report, JustaGuy. Doesn't sound good. I was pulling for SUPE2 to be better than MOS. If only marginally. eallensbp Mar 24, 19:26

We're at 30% now on RT....Sleep well Mr. Feige. Sleep well. {nm} JustaGuy Mar 24, 20:29

i knew doomsday was a mistake the moment i heard he was in BVS. he could have been awesome as the bad guy in justice league or the next supe horrorfanatic Mar 24, 20:05

Or Doomsday could've been awesome here--if the script structure was fixed, and he wasn't spoiled in ANY of the marketing whatsoever. chosenone2oo5 Mar 24, 20:52

I actually (spoilers) CommonAnomaly Mar 24, 20:49

I had to digest his performance for a lotta hours before I could stomach it...some. {nm} Catzan Mar 24, 21:24

I liked Spaceys Luthor {nm} Dorfman Mar 25, 06:21

me too {nm} tealfan Mar 25, 07:25

Maybe I'm a geek, but the animated Luthor from the Justice League cartoon is how I picture the character. Not a giddy rambler. Zero menace. {nm} JustaGuy Mar 25, 07:49

Maybe I'm a geek, but Michael Rosenbaum's more restrained Lex Luthor from "Smallville" is what I always envisioned. Eisenberg did great. chosenone2oo5 Mar 25, 11:30

To many this is Lex, any other version just doesn't sit well. {nm} Baron_Darcon Mar 25, 12:43

I thoroughly enjoyed the film. By far my favorite Batman to hit the movie screen. Wonder Woman stole the show anytime she was on screen. {nm} kcpelot Mar 24, 22:44

Liked it a lot. Started slow but once it got going, it was awesome. They fixed the 3rd act issues from MoS very well. {nm} reelreptile Mar 24, 23:01

I like how they addressed the 3rd act of MoS as well. Shows they are listening! {nm} kcpelot Mar 24, 23:03

I thought it was confusing, messy and desperate (Spoilers) Moviesnob Mar 25, 02:22

A lot of frank miller in there. You can't go wrong with that. {nm} eternal warrior Mar 25, 04:49

Thought it had the same story structure as MoS hence my speculation on the legs {nm} JustaGuy Mar 25, 07:40

I saw it again last night and you could def tell more fans than critics this time from the cheering. {nm} iamZ3R0 Mar 25, 06:53
