HH: According to my sources, Miles Morales will be the Spider-Man in [ASPDR]

The general audience is going to have no clue what's up with this film. That's a "Fanboys-only" move.

Disagree, this is a kids movie for those growing up watching Ulimate Spider-Man cartoons.

Does that audience reach wide enough to apply for earning back a ~$120M+ CG budget, or is that just the Peter Parker Spider-Man?

Where you get $120M? LEGO cost $60M and more than made back its budget.

Lego Movie's budget is definitely an exception, only Illumination film budgets are sub-100 million for major studio wide releases

Well, some of the Blue Sky stuff like the Ice Age films skirts around 90-100. DWA is 120+, Pixar is 150+

this is absolutely more Lego than Pixar

Depends on their angle of approach. "The Lego Movie" was supposed to look like room-sized Lego sets. This should look better than "Megamind"

This is Lord and Miller again, so precedent for $60M. Look at SPA for comps not Pixar or DWA.

"The Lego Movie" was Warner Bros. Animation Group. It's an outlier, literally. SPA ranges from $78M-$110M, point still holds.

P.S. The last CG theatrically released Marvel/Disney film, "Big Hero 6," was budgeted at $165M. Despite Lord/Miller, $60M is TOO LOW.

Again, what Disney spent is completely irrelevant.

It's a CG/Marvel comp. I'm saying, for a superhero CG film, if you don't want it to look like complete STV crap, but a FILM, it's $100M+.

Again, LEGO did it for $60M without looking like STV crap.

You're talking about rendering Lego bricks compared to organic characters & a wide variety of other textures & colors not exclusive to Lego!

Yet LEGO still looks better than Cloudy/Meatballs or Hotel Transylvania films, whose characters also look plastic, rather than "organic"..

"Toy Story" cost $30M. "Toy Story 2" cost $90M. "Toy Story 3" cost $200M. I wonder how much "The Lego Batman Movie" will cost. Again, scope.
