There are other characters in this movie that seem to have dopplegangers, or "the tethered", as Jordan Peele calls them...
...so I doubt it has anything to do with DID. Plus, Split just DID that (pun intended) last year. Jordan Peele strikes me as a man who, judging by Get Out and Key & Peele, doesn't like to imitate other people's work.
