Ironman was much well known going back to the beginnings of Marvel so was Dr. Strange.. Guardians however was a huge surprise.. not the Guar

Guardians I read back in the 80s and 90s.. it showed the depth of Marvel's Studios talent in crafting a space tale.

Captian Marvel is a whole different story.. Her books are a blatant political agenda.. she is constantly derided in forums..

Marvel so desperate to maker her a thing they restarted her series TEN times!!! and they all have flopped and be canceled due to low sales..

Marvel comics pushed her into every title..yet instead of the wider audience warming up to her, they have alienated an drove a wedge between the male fanbase and a hypothetical feminist fan base that doesn't buy comics.

BO Long Range Tracking for CMARV OW is $140m-$180m tomcat90 Jan 11, 18:54

Let's hope the final total is $700,059,567 or higher. {nm} fourstars Jan 11, 18:58

Why {nm} MattW Jan 11, 19:00

Because that domestic number would put it above the domestic total of BPNTH. {nm} Jay_Beezy Jan 11, 19:50

...and why would we hope for that before even seeing the film? CMARV won't beat 97% on RT. That's for sure. {nm} LaForza Jan 11, 21:10

the resident haters on the board have been rooting for every superhero movie to beat for almost a year now. you can guess why {nm} professor zovek Jan 11, 21:42

Not all haters will root for the ultimate overpowered female characters. {nm} Antibody Jan 11, 23:54

the cognitive dissonance will be fun to watch {nm} professor zovek Jan 12, 00:25

So, are you implying that everybody that didn't like Black Panther is a racist? FabioParme Jan 12, 06:41

It begs the question: "Why is Black Panther the metric to beat?" rather than ANY other superhero movie. Why single out BP for comparison? {nm} BSmurf Jan 12, 07:27

It’s more like “if all you post on the board is how much you dislike BP and that AVNG4 is going to crush it and you give weekly updates on RogerMore Jan 12, 07:48

The irony of it is that these people prove why these movies are so important...which was what frustrated them the most. LOL. {nm} LaForza Jan 12, 11:12

BO was never a metric to judge a film's quality. Black Panther has its own reasons and merits for being a BO hit. FabioParme Jan 12, 14:41

Black panther got massive amounts of free press. Probably more than any movie since force awakens {nm} MattW Jan 12, 14:50

ah, the soft bigotry of low expectations {nm} professor zovek Jan 12, 15:39

no one said or implied that "some people believe that just because you didn't like Black Panther, you are automatic a racist" Moviesnob Jan 12, 15:02

That was totally implied, repeatedly snob..anyone who criticized BP, pointed out plot holes or flaws was consistantly called a racist. {nm} Baron_Darcon2017 Jan 12, 19:55

Plot holes or flaws in comic book movies? Next you'll tell us horror movies don't always make sense. {nm} DTXbro Jan 14, 04:57

Like what? {nm} fourstars Jan 12, 20:27

If people want to nitpick a movie for odd reasons, that's fine, but the randomness of comments like these are suspect. LaForza Jan 12, 21:26

That's nuts.. Captain Marvel is one of the least popular Marvel characters..it'll earn less than Ant-man OW of 57M {nm} Baron_Darcon2017 Jan 11, 23:35

It's not nuts as advance ticket sales are pacing better than Antman. {nm} Antibody Jan 11, 23:39

Better than Thor 3 according to Fandango and by other accounts not far behind BP. MattW Jan 11, 23:43

Frontloaded.. I believe they said the same for Solo.. so maybe higher than Antman but not much.. she is not a popular character. {nm} Baron_Darcon2017 Jan 11, 23:49

I'll say 100m OW is pretty much locked at this point {nm} MattW Jan 11, 23:56

Only BP OW was above 100M, discounting Spidey Homecoming.... we'll see shortly.. Hopefully Antibody sets is high. I'll short it. {nm} Baron_Darcon2017 Jan 12, 00:23

Only the intro origin story I'm referring to... not sequels and Avenger movies. {nm} Baron_Darcon2017 Jan 12, 00:24

Iron Man was not a well-known figure until the movie came out. {nm} numbersix_99 Jan 12, 04:43

Or Dr Strange, too {nm} BSmurf Jan 12, 07:29

or Guardians of the Galaxy. {nm} BSmurf Jan 12, 07:29

Ironman was much well known going back to the beginnings of Marvel so was Dr. Strange.. Guardians however was a huge surprise.. not the Guar Baron_Darcon2017 Jan 12, 20:01

The MCU fanbase are not the same as the Marvel comics fanbase {nm} numbersix_99 Jan 13, 03:53

What metric are you using to determine that Captain Marvel is one of the least popular marvel characters? {nm} Paul2k Jan 12, 09:10

For him it’s the number of X chromosomes {nm} Moviesnob Jan 12, 09:34

Her comic sales have been fairly mediocre over the last decade, except recently, they did some real damage to her character. austpow Jan 12, 12:03

I refuse to hold the current comic version against the movie though, and I really hope it’s great. {nm} austpow Jan 12, 12:05

Comic sales figures, her comic has been canceled and restarted 5 times in the past decade. Marvel has been trying to push her as the new Baron_Darcon2017 Jan 12, 14:34

Actually her title has been restarted TEN times now!! Cancelled everytime due to poor sales. {nm} Baron_Darcon2017 Jan 12, 20:05

Not tracking, but one person's opinion / prediction. {nm} Antibody Jan 11, 23:36

Sorry but BP was just another superhero movie. Nothing classy about it aka dark knight et al {nm} bunty_ketti Jan 13, 09:33
