probably keep PWELL in the role and still update the story to reflect current events, e.g., give him a Regina King as the partner this time around.
the bad pitch would be something like a BLM-type group hacks into RoboCop and flips the programming so now he's a cop hunter for them. but there are probably ways to keep the satire relevant without losing the underlying elements
