I've been trying to do my part during this pandemic. And the first question i continue to ask myself about going to the theater is
How is this HELPING end the pandemic?
That's the question: How is going out to a movie theater, sitting in it for a couple of hours; How is it HELPING?
For the past 5 plus months now, whenever I go anywhere, the only thing I think about is getting the hell out of there. Do what you came for, and get out. The grocery store. The gas station. The Home Depot. In N Out.
In. Out ASAP. Stay away from everybody. I live in an area where there are millions of people who think the whole thing is a political hoax, so trusting EVERYBODY to do the right thing isn't even remotely close to something you'd ponder; you know that kind of thinking is a huge mistake LOL.
Right now at this point, a movie theater still feels pretty darn selfish, self centered. I mean, I WANT to go to the movies. I miss the theater about as much as anything in my life (I'd say that after being near family and friends, that Amoeba, Dodger Stadium, Original Tommy's, Arclight Hollywood Cinerama Dome, Alamo Drafthouse, Staples Center, Phillipe's The Original, those are some of the highest places on my miss list)I don't want anyone in my immediate circle (family, co-workers, neighbors) to have any issues on my account.
It's pretty basic, but that's where it's at. I know the numbers have been trending down now. Still, 1,100 plus people died in the U.S. yesterday, and there were 45K NEW cases identified yesterday, including my boss and her son. I have not been in her presence so that's good for me personally. Still.
Going to a movie right now still just feels OFF. It doesn't feel like the right thing to do.
So I get it. Overreacting probably. But I'm looking around and I'm trying to help an do the right thing. So maybe it's not.
