It is a monumental pet peeve of mine seeing movies referred to as original simply because they're not IP-based.
I see no value in calling such movies original when they lack original storytelling.
We've seen such movies fail at the box office because of that. And Free Guy succeeded because even though it borrowed story elements from other movies, it was at least original in the way it *told* its story.
Let's not forget that Red Notice was set up at Universal before it was sent over to Netflix. Netflix's viewership numbers wouldn't have necessarily translated into gangbusters box office, no matter how big they were.
