Disappointed Iran missed out - 3 worthy movies out of the country - No Bears/Hit The Road & Holy Spider which gets nominated from Denmark
'Coz their filmmakers can't make taboo subject films at home anymore like in Hong Kong.
The Indian one Chhelo Show/Last Picture Show seems like a remake of or at least based on Cinema Paradiso. Will try to watch.
France also had enough films to fill the list on its own apart from St Omer.. Athena, Stars at Noon, Happening & more (maybe Anais in Love).
My 5 noms would be Denmark, Argentina, France, Korea (I hope this doesn't hurt Park Chan Wook/Tang Wei's chances of noms), & one of Pol/Ind/Pak (the last is also banned in their home country so Oscar voters could have sympathy) with Argentina 1985 taking it by a slim margin from Decision to Leave.
Fifteen films advanced to the next round of voting in the International Feature Film category. (India is not RRR) Jan 10, 10:16
