If WB wanted to avoid an embarrassing public flop that could wreck a franchise by canning Batgirl, wouldn't the same logic hold for canning Joker 2 which is turning out to be an even bigger public flop (monetarily) than Batgirl would have been and potentially could impact the new DC rebrand Gunn is undertaking for them?

Am I missing something? Is it in the contracts with the production companies and Phillips that they had to release this in theatres or else they'd be on the hook for more? Like they couldn't can it outright but they also couldn't dump it on Max because there would be a huge penalty (since there's no backend anymore)?

I'm just asking because I thought one of you guys might know. I'm curious how this works today.
