I think you'd have much the same level of disinterest had it been Sebastian Stan taking over the mantle...the one significant difference being Bucky is a superhuman, and Falcon is just a regular guy doing **** with the shield that doesn't make any sense for a mere mortal.

The Marvel characters people became invested in aren't interchangeable titles. They're not fungible; not in an ongoing continuity, anyway. I don't think it's racist to be significantly less enthused about Anthony Mackie as Captain America vs Chris Evans. Think we'll see Florence Pugh reinforce that argument in a couple months.

Also don't think the lack of enthusiasm is in any way exclusive to white fans, but i guess we'll know once the opening weekend demos are released.

(also, there's a inescapable stink on this movie, regardless, given how widely reported it's been that they've shot it at least twice, and the director was reportedly fired...we've seen this whole scenario play out before, 8 years ago, with Justice League.)
