THEY didn't lose. WE did.

Most of the Fox/other libraries taken over by Disney are lost to viewers. Except for some popular tiles/franchise related movies all 20th Century (sic) (pun intended) movies are gone, not on app, not made available for screenings - mostly even private screenings - all just so people are forced to only watch newer content that they're spending money on & need a return on. Kind of like bloatware on a mobile/laptop from manufacturer/OS provider like Google/Apple/Microsoft (& they work to kill/takeover rival content too) - that's to the detriment of users too. WB was likely doing the same with its libraries following Disney's long term strategy but now not only will Netflix selectively remove content & replace with newer WB IP milking series/movies but they'll also cut theatrical windows.

Paramount under Ellison would also have been terrible. All content pushed out would be pushing agenda/ideology supporting Trump's world view likely also lowering both quality/intellectual content not to mention making Hollywood a 'proud boys/MAGA space.

WB shouldn't have been sold but we're well post that point. They chose the time of max possible valuation after a long string of hits, looking out for themselves only. Expected given the past history of their execs.

Netflix news "really" sucks. Agreed. My take... (nside) VictorY Dec 06, 13:34

Yep. I can't believe the degree of not caring about your own legacy, or the history of it at all. It's sickening. But hey, it's capitalism. {nm} goodvibe61 Dec 06, 14:22

Don't blame capitalism. Hollywood would not exist without it. {nm} THXER Dec 07, 10:49

I don't think it will be that bad. Everyone freaked out whenever Disney bought anything and it worked out just fine. TheWeekendWarrior Dec 06, 14:32

Hmm I'm not sure I'd call losing an entire slate from another major studio (Fox) "fine"... {nm} wolfiemozart Dec 06, 16:33

What did they lose? Still releasing Avatar movies, keeping the Alien and Predator franchises alive and doing better than ever. {nm} TheWeekendWarrior Dec 06, 17:20

I received an email from Netflix already confirming its done sneak Dec 06, 20:03

Gotcha. Netflix should just get their lawyers suing Trump early... {nm} TheWeekendWarrior Dec 07, 05:24

Until the cheque for the donation to his presidential library clears. Assuming that would be less than 5.8bn. {nm} RufusS Dec 07, 06:29

Thats what people forget, is that other than being racist & sexist, Trump is not an idealogue. He's for sale {nm} Moviesnob Dec 07, 10:03

Netflix quietly does some great things (e.g. with Jane Campion & the next generation - waveintheocean.nz), which the likes of WB never did. {nm} Qix Dec 06, 20:25

Netflix has made and acquired a ton of high quality films and given lots of filmmakers a blank check to make their dream projects Moviesnob Dec 07, 10:33
