I was not a fan of that cringe film.
Probably mentioned this before....my Gems screening had one lone memorable moment, one I won't soon forget.
At the moment of truth at the very end, a woman right behind me yelled out....."FINALLY". The audience really broke out in a good sized laugh. And that was the only truly memorable part of the screening, as opposed to anything on screen. Sandler was very good as a chucklehead. That was about it.
Read a bunch of reviews now that the film is out, and it leads me to believe this is Uncut Gems Pt. 2. Same character, same contrivances, same decision making. The same.
I almost HAVE to give this a look, with all the awards talk. I hope there's something more to it than what it sounds like. And I hope I enjoy it more than I did last year's Anora, which I have serious problems with to this day.
I'm hoping to catch up with the other foreign films over the next couple of weeks. Sirat, Just an Accident, Secret Agent, No Other Choice, The Voice of... I've seen and was mega impressed by Sentimental Value, a terrific film. So; looking forward to these others, which is where much of this year's strengtsh appear to reside.
