They didn't really debunk anything

There have, in fact, been multiple test screenings of it and the reactions have not been positive.  The James Wan anecdote is meaningless.  It's not uncommon for producers to not stay for the entire test screening or to dip out temporarily, etc. But the rest of that report is pretty accurate.
