I'll start with one of my old favorite authors,sadly deceased,Roger Zelazny. Movie buffs will know him for Damnation Alley. I suspect that would be far better done today but no more remakes pleaase! For mr Zelazny i nominate,This Immortal aka And Call Me Conrad. Not so much fantasy as he had in many other novels this shou;ld work well being adapted to the movies.

James Rollins wrote the book adaptation of Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull.(Hey,someone had too.) Rather than the serial Sigma books lets go with Ice Hunt. Trying to pick books here that can make the leap without bankrupting the studio.

They reached back in time for Starship Troopers by Heinlein. One of his contemporaries,H Beam Piper wrote some rather simplistic sci fi stories as was Troopers. Little Fuzzy has cute little and fuzzy! aliens. The story is whether or not they are sapient. I think todays audience would be oth young and old. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Fuzzy

I will give you one more for now. Lois McMaster Bujold just to prove i don't only read male authors. She has written numerous books around a somewhat disabled physically but never mentally character,Miles Vorkosigan. Hollywood loves sequels and with the right leading male they could adapt more than one of these books onto the big screen. I would however suggest the actual short story Borders of Infinity which is included in the bokk of the same name.

I said last but one comment. Any producer looking,hey,my ideas. Like trolling the comic universe for stories,just try the sci fi universe,many of the books out of print and probably harder to find than the comics which were always well collected. Someone out there,please convince Orson Scott Card that the time is right to make Enders Game. You only have a built in fan base numbering in the millions after all. (EGAME) in development forever.
