The problem is from my understanding is part of the insurance coverage contract on the film she wasn't suppose to drive to the set
The studio was suppose to have her driven there. In fact a limo was there to pick her up and she insisted that she drive herself in this rented Porche. The limo actually was behind her following when the accident happened. So the producers have lost a day of filming for which they have to pay all these people who stood around doing nothing. Normally this would be covered by the insurance but since it was stated in the policy that she was to be driven back and forth to the set the insurance company is likely to refuse to pay the claim.
