To add to the argument, McKay has become a lot more prominent in recent years due to Funny or Die
While he has been a behind-the-scenes guy with Will Ferrell for years, I think he's getting in front of the camera more to promote movies like he did with The Goods where he set up a webcam on Sunday and took calls from people who saw the movie and didn't think it was funny. He's also active on Twitter similar to Favreau, Edgar Wright and others... I'll be curious to see whether his name is pushed more front and center for The Other Guys. He's certainly been hugely important for Will Ferrell's success having directed three of his biggest.
