having Luck as an understudy, much like Rodgers was to Farve for 3 years is looking towards the future. that was a brilliant strategy from the Packers, and because of it they will reign (the league/NFC) like the Patriots/Colts/Steelers have (league/AFC) for years to come.
the problem with going after Luck, is he might not want to sit back and watch for multiple years. many teams would start him right first season...but most would be stupid to do so. many great QBs have failed because of coaching issues and lack of reps.
