:) I like your last comment. Back to the obstruction, actually, if Middlebrooks had laid completely still where he landed, he still would've
been called for obstruction. The movement of his legs is irrelevant. He was lying perpendicular directly across Craig's base path to homeplate. If he had tried to roll out of the way (assuming that people who are prone tend to roll to either their left or their right), he would still have been in the base path. THe only way, after he missed the ball, for him to not obstruct Craig would be to scoot forward (toward the pitcher's mound) or backward (towards the 3rd base coach's box). Or to teleport, which we agree is not sanctioned by MLB.
Bleacher Report explains how Middlebrooks was damned no matter what he did, as soon as he missed Salty's throw and ended up on the deck.
