I agree. I'm glad it was it was in favor of the Cards, otherwise I'd be pissed too. But I wish we'd won in a more positive fashion.

MLB Rule 7.06(a) - Obstruction is rather clear and concise. No need for teleporting - just don't Obstruct.

The rule reads quite clearly, you're right, but it (and the example which is given in the rule book) are problematic in this particular case

Not problematic at all. It's all about Onus. The Onus was on the Fielder not to Obstruct.
