for me and our 8th employee. I'm assuming he's gonna take it, as it's very lucrative for both parties.
Here's the kicker, we have built this business in 7 years to be quite large (in terms of small business), and we have done so without ever "selling" a product. Meaning we have never approached anyone and said, "hey, you should buy our product and here's why."
We're extremely fortunate, and I'm very humbled by our success. However, I never wanted to get in the business of "approaching" potential future clients. I've always felt like that is bad form and false promises are often made. I also don't feel like expensing a budget to wine and dine, as that makes no sense to me, but I understand it's the world we live in.
Long story short, I'm really excited about the prospects. We have so many useful products, they sell themselves and referrals drive majority of our business currently. As we're in the recurring revenue model, it creates a nice snowball effect.
While we're building more, we're also sitting around playing pool, going to movies and watching TV in our offices. Bottom line, we can handle a lot more load, so this is the next step.
We've been approached by a competitor (before) to sell an arm of our company, and though quite nice I have a lot of people on staff I care about. At 35 I have a lot more to do. I'd like to be out by 45-50, so if this goes well... I hope so.
My question to any of you out there, are any of you in sales and if so, do you feel a constant pressure to perform? I don't want to push that, but there is a "magic" figure... however, I'm patient.
Any thoughts or comments are welcomed, thanks. Heading out for the night, so if I don't answer back until tomorrow that's why.
