Each team will make 12 primary balls available for testing by the Referee two hours and 15 minutes prior to the starting time of the game to meet League requirements

For all games, eight new footballs, sealed in a special box and shipped by the manufacturer to
the Referee, will be opened in the officials’ locker room two hours and 15 minutes prior to the starting time of the game. These balls are to be specially marked by the Referee and used exclusively for the kicking game.

Breaking News: NFL verifies that 11 out of 12 balls in the Belicheat Bowl were under-inflated charlie Jan 20, 22:01

question - did the colts use the same balls? {nm} Moviesnob Jan 20, 22:04

Nope. Each team brings there own balls to the game...not even joking {nm} lapuckfan Jan 20, 22:08

wow, they cheated that baby right out of their belly Moviesnob Jan 20, 22:17

"Deflategate", haha. {nm} eyescovered Jan 21, 05:47

I saw "Ballghazi", liked that one too {nm} islander Jan 21, 05:51

Is there a minimum the ball must be inflated to? Anyone know? {nm} eyescovered Jan 21, 07:02

I believe the ball needs to be in the 12.5-13.5 psi range {nm} lapuckfan Jan 21, 07:19

Oh right, it was in the article :) {nm} eyescovered Jan 21, 09:14

I'm a fan and originally from the Boston area, but just a small fine isn't enough. {nm} eyescovered Jan 21, 10:47

Wouldn't it end up being a 2 Pound Fine. {nm} British Humour Jan 21, 11:34

That's a knee slapper {nm} Dorfman Jan 21, 13:13

Wah-Waaaahhhhh {nm} eyescovered Jan 21, 13:32

Even Breakinger News: NFL was aware of similar allegations against the Belicheaters before last week's game charlie Jan 21, 11:56

Love to know how this happens when supposedly the REFS are supposed to check the balls before the game. {nm} Dorfman Jan 21, 12:38

They did. Presumably someone deflated them afterwards. {nm} Antibody Jan 21, 12:42

How would they know which ones?? pro football, the exact same 18 balls are used by both teams. {nm} Dorfman Jan 21, 12:46

Wrong. Each side prep their own 12 game balls for their exclusive use. There are additional separate balls used just for kicking. {nm} Antibody Jan 21, 12:55

No thats college ball. The teams use their own balls. {nm} Dorfman Jan 21, 12:57

You don't even read what you link?! Antibody Jan 21, 12:59

right. Doesn't say which balls are being used by which team. {nm} Dorfman Jan 21, 13:03

Doesn't say the balls are mixed up. You should read all the news articles. {nm} Antibody Jan 21, 13:05

I'm quoting the rule book, not news articles {nm} Dorfman Jan 21, 13:06

The colts would have been using the balls the pats provided. Dorfman Jan 21, 13:06

You missed this part, which suggests the home and visitor balls are kept separate JDolphin Jan 21, 19:24

They may be kept separate, but reads like the home balls are used by both teams unless there is something wrong with them or supply exhauste {nm} Dorfman Jan 22, 04:14

And the balls are supposed to stay under supervision of the referee until they are delivered to the ball attendent just priror to start Dorfman Jan 21, 12:52

But who does the 'attendant' work for and where does he keep the balls. It's a 3 hr game, that's plenty of time to deflate 12 balls {nm} JDolphin Jan 21, 19:28

I'm not a pats fan but this just seems nearly impossible to know which ball would be used by which team.. Dorfman Jan 21, 12:54

Yet somehow through some great consipiracy they manged to be sure pats used underinflated and colts used regular balls? really? College Dorfman Jan 21, 12:56

It's amazing to me the NFL that regulates everything from how players dance in endzone to their shoe laces lets teams bring their own balls. {nm} Dorfman Jan 22, 04:15

it's been called the No Fun League for years {nm} charlie Jan 22, 10:04

So the refs, who handle the balls between every play, didn't notice they were under-inflated? {nm} warcraft86 Jan 23, 19:23
