The Dodger bats were oh so quiet for almost all of this game, just like every game in this World Series. The Jays had this game all night long; it was well within their grasp. The outplayed the Dodgers throughout this series. I want to look at the series overall statistics. They outhit the Dodgers; they out pitched them. But they couldn't close it. They couldn't close it. And the Dodgers simply did not go away until the final out.
For the winning team, this game shows how it takes an entire roster to get it done. For Miggy Rojas to do what he did in the final two games was amazing. How can ****' Hernandez do what he does in the post season, when he's basically less than average during the season? And for coach Roberts to insert slumping Andy Pages into CF late, and he turns around and immediately pays dividends, by making a world series saving play in center field. And then, Yoshinobu Yamamoto shows just how great he is. He comes in after pitching 6 innings 24 hours before, and he ends it. He won 3 games in this series. Shohei didn't get it done tonight; Yamamoto DID. Will Smith was HUGE, playing coming off a broken hand. He was huge. First defending championship in nearly a generation; first NL team to repeat in 50 YEARS.
I hope the Jays grow from this one; it's a tough one to take. I remember it very well; in 2017 we lost a heart breaking WS to the cheating Astros. It was heart breaking. Then we turned around and got there again, and got mauled by the Red Stockings. I remember it very well, like last night. Hopefully, their organization will get even more hungry. That's a great club. I'm still not sure how they didn't win it. They deserved it up until the end. I give a ton of credit to the Jays organization; they are right with the top teams in putting their revenue dollars right back into their roster. They want it bad. It's a tough time, because it's so hard to get back there with a chance to win it. They definitely could do it. I'm so impressed by that club.
This was a great WS. One of the best I've seen. The whole series was one enormous nail biter.
