Explanation on ' Stock Adjustments' Please??

I understand that movie stocks in wide release will be adjusted based on its opening weekend gross. So my question is for example 'Avatar'. Its weekend gross was at 22 Million so the stock should reflect and be adjusted based on the calculation of (22million x 2.3) right? But why is it that the stock shoots up ridiculously soon after. So which does it reflect on opening gross or cummilative? How is it adjusted?
