Currently known as the British surgeon Dr. Elizabeth Corday on the hit series ER, Alex Kingston began her acting career long before her move to Los Angeles. Born in the outskirts of London, England, Kingston was inspired at an early age to pursue a career in acting. At fifteen, she landed her first role on British television in the successful series Grange Hill. A few years later, she was accepted into the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts andsuccessfully completed the two-year program.
In England, the actress worked in repertory theater and joined the Royal Shakespeare Company. Kingston appeared as classical characters in the productions Much Ado About Nothing and King Lear as well as Birmingham Repertory Productions’ Othello and The Alchemist.
Kingston has held small roles in films including Saint-Ex and Virtual Encounters 2. More recently, she has managed to land leading roles in the crime-drama Croupier and in the romantic comedy This Space Between Us. Kingston will star in the thriller Essex Boys as a double-crossing girlfriend of a criminal. The Britsh pop-culture filmwill be released later this year.
On television, Kinston has starred in several British television programs such as A Killing Exchange, The Bill, and Crocodile Shoes. American television viewers have seen the actress star as Moll Flanders in the PBS miniseries The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders. She portrayed a young lady who is prepared to do anything that leads to wealth. Kingston has also appeared on the cable movies Weapons of Mass Destruction and the Infiltrator.
