Description

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Alexander Payne attended Stanford and UCLA film school. He made his directorial debut with 1996's Citizen Ruth. His sophomore effort was 1999's Reese Witherspoon-starrer Election, for which he received an Oscar nomination for screenplay. His 2002 film About Schmidt stars Jack Nicholson. Sideways and Nebraska are his recent directing projects.
