Zamani Barayé Masti Asbha aka A Time For Drunken Horses is a dramatic, Iranian film directed by one of the most prominent Iranian directors, Ghobadi. Shot strictly in Iranian Kurdistan, the film projects real life events showing the true politics and culture of the landscape. The story revolves around a group of children who must provide for themselves. In a vain attempt to receive money for a brothers illness, his sister goes off to marry an Iraqi that promises money. But at the border things go wrong and the family refuses the boy to marry this girl because of the sick brother. They are given a horse instead and the family must then try to make a living with the horse.
The film has received critical acclaim at film festivals in Cannes, Edinburgh, Telluride and Toronto. It won three awards at the Cannes Film Festival including the Camera d'Or award. The film stars Nezhad Ekhtiar-Dini, Amaneh Ektiar-Dini, Ayob Ahmadi, and Jouvin Younessi.
