Sony will adapt the illustrated book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs by Judith Barrett into an animated film. The whimsical story centers on a scientist who conducts several experiments in the hopes of solving world hunger. Things take an unlikely turn when food items like spaghetti, mashed potatoes and juice rain down from the sky. The town of Chewandswallow must figure out what to do with the abundance of edibles.
