Rumored as a remake of 1973's The Harder They Come, New Line's Turn It Up chronicles a young man played by Pras Michel, who tries to escape poverty through a recording deal.
However, when he finds corruption within the music industry, he must turn to the wrong side of the law to make ends meet.
If Turn It Up is indeed a remake of the 1973 film, Michel will star in the role originally played by reggae superstar Jimmy Cliff. Turn It Up reportedly features a cameo from Michel's fellow Fugee Wyclef Jean, as well as an unpublicized role from Lauryn Hill.
Turn It Up has been previously titled Ghetto Superstar and In the Mix during its production.
