When Claire Cooper (Annette Bening) loses her child in a car accident she begins to have horrifying nightmares. Already distraught beyond belief from the loss of her child, she slowly learns that the dreams are real.
A psychic connection between her and a killer as given her access to the most twisted of visions.
As the two recognize the presence of each other, the killer slowly begins to move closer into the waking life of Claire forcing her to deal with a world of insanity and murder.
