The Jimmy Show stars Ethan Hawke as a young man who takes on a completely different career in order to make ends meet. He starts out as a young inventor, but finds no luck or profit in his profession. He then switches to standup comedy and finds it even tougher in the cutthroat world of comedy. On the brink of failure, the man plunges into despair and starts hitting the bottle. The Jimmy Show is based on an off-Broadway play in which Hawke was involved as well.
The film co-stars Carla Gugino and Frank Whaley, who also directs. Whaley made his directorial debut with his acclaimed 1999 film Joe the King.
