Left Behind focuses on the disappearance of millions of people in the preparation for Judgment Day. The situation is brought to light after a pilot discovers a number of his passengers have inexplicably vanished while mid-flight. Apparently, millions of people have disappeared across the country in an event which came to be known as "The Rapture". The film, adapted to the screen by Jon Bishop (The Package), is based on the series of Christian novels written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins.
Victor Sarin (Cold Comfort) will direct the film to star Kirk Cameron (Growing Pains), Clarence Gilyard (Walker, Texas Ranger), Brad Johnson, Christine MacFadyen, Jay Manchester, Chelsea Noble, and Janaya Stephens. The marketing campaign of Left Behind will include a video release of the movie during October 2000 before its theatrical run in Feburary 2001.
