Perhaps the queen of the romantic comedy, Meg Ryan received her first big break on the daytime soap As the World Turns. Ryan then won a role in Top Gun. The release of When Harry Met Sally in 1989 established Ryan as one of Hollywood's biggest box-office draws, and lead to a string of roles in other romantic comedies such as Prelude to a Kiss and Sleepless in Seattle. Ryan broke out of that genre with films such as Restoration and Courage Under Fire, but returned to familiar territory with 1997's Addicted to Love and 1998's You've Got Mail.
