MVP: Most Valuable Primate is a new film from Keystone Entertainment, famous for its family entertainment involving animals in such films as Air Bud and Air Bud 2: Golden Receiver. A smart chimp, by the name of Jack, is under the care of Dr. Kendall (Lomax Study), who's spent his entire professional career trying to teach Jack how to communicate with humans. But as his research comes to a halt, he enrolls Jack into a Natural Preserve where other colleagues have different plans. They want to send Jack to a medical experiment testing site. But somehow, he gets off at the wrong stop and ends up in Canada.
When wandering through the cold, Canadian frontier, Jack comes across a tree house where he meets up with a young, deaf girl named Tara (Jamie Renee Smith) who teaches him to ice skate as they begin a magical sign language-based friendship. Tara's older brother Steven (Kevin Zegers) is amazed by Jack's talent and decides to have him join his failing hockey team. Jack must work together with his team to save the day, win the championship and avoid being taken to the medical research testing site.
First time director and CEO of Keystone Entertainment, Robert Vince also worked as writer and executive produce for the film. His wife, Anne Vince, executive produced and co-wrote the picture as well. The chimpanzee was played by a trio of chimps: Bernie, Mac, and Louie.
